Description

The Day Climb Story Bridge begins in the morning and goes until the afternoon. Enjoy a complete 360-degree view of Brisbane and its surroundings. Brisbane’s best sights stretch from the Glass House Mountains to Moreton Bay and south to the Scenic Rim.

Departures

  • Departs up to three times per day

The action starts on this day as we climb the Story Bridge at our base camp for the climb, which is located beneath the Story Bridge. You will leave our base and climb a spiral staircase to the beginning of our suspended walkway immediately beneath the Bradfield Highway, Australia’s shortest highway, after receiving a brief pre-climb briefing.

You will then begin the trek along the suspended walkway to the base of the southern pylon, where you will begin to learn about the colourful history of the Story Bridge and Brisbane. From here, you will be attached to our climb line for the duration of the climb.

It’s time to ascend from here! Start the ascent through the inner eastern bridge arm, ascending to the same level as one of Brisbane’s busiest commuter points, and then continue straight upward on the south-eastern cantilever arm that spans the Brisbane River and rises into the sky. Before you know it, you’re on the summit platform, celebrating with your climbing group, where you can regain your bearings and learn some interesting details about the breathtaking 360-degree panorama in front of you.

Traveling about halfway across the river below, you’ll examine the bridge from a different perspective before returning to the top platform for one last climb group photo before your descent down to our climb base camp.

A group photo taken during the climb is included with every climb, and additional individual photos can be purchased.

Iconic Story Bridge

The Story Bridge is Brisbane’s most recognisable city building, and climbing it is the best way to see Brisbane. Discover a distinctive viewpoint of the city and its surroundings, extending from Moreton Bay in the east to the Scenic Rim Mountains in the south and from the Glass House Mountains in the north to the Brisbane skyline and its surroundings. So there’s no need to go further if you’re seeking Brisbane attractions, things to do in Brisbane, or what’s happening in Brisbane. Story Bridge Adventure Climb offers a unique experience as one of just three bridge climbs in the entire globe.

Important info before travel

It’s a journey of almost a kilometre up over the bridge’s superstructure with a viewing platform 80m above the Brisbane River as it flows past the city heart.

From the viewing platform of the bridge climbers will enjoy uninterrupted 360° views of Brisbane, its river and surrounding hills and mountains.
