Description
The Frankland Island day tour will take you to the archipelago of the Frankland Islands, which is located 10km offshore, around 45km south-east of Cairns.
Departures
- Departs Cairns from 6.55 am
- Returns Cairns 5 pm
The day will begin with a complimentary pick-up from your Cairns accommodation. Head south for about an hour to meet your boat, the Turtle Islander, at the township of Deeral.
Then you’ll take a 30-minute boat down the Mulgrave River, which is bordered with rainforest and mangroves.
Then, on the shortest of any Great Barrier Reef day cruise, a fast crossing to the Frankland Islands The island of Normandy is bordered by sandy beaches and reefs where you can snorkel right from the shore.

Adventure Snorkel Safari
We take you by boat to the western side of Frankland Island for our adventure snorkel safari. Dive into the sea and drift snorkel your way back to the beach. Along the journey, you’ll come across coral gardens teeming with hard and soft corals, enormous clams, and a variety of colorful fish.
Our snorkel guides will be with you the entire time, pointing out the highlights of our gorgeous reefs and ensuring your safety at all times.
Island Walk
Join our marine biologist and Master Reef Guide for an island walk to discover the diverse wildlife that thrives here, from rock pools to the rainforest.
Our helpful staff will assist you in making the most of our beautiful Great Barrier Reef National Park island.

Important info before travel
You’ll need your swimsuit and towel, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen (we recommend bringing a reef friendly type), and shoes that can get wet and sandy. Bring anything else you want to have with you for a day out on a tropical island. We recommend bringing a refillable water bottle, and cash or credit card (Visa or Mastercard) for onboard purchases or optional activities.
