Description

During the Broken Head tour, participants embark on a leisurely 1.6 km round-trip walk. Delving into significant locales and absorbing local history alongside traditional tales. Key features encompass the narrative of The Three Sisters, insights into ‘King’ Bobby and the Bray family. Explorers gain knowledge about the distinct biodiversity and frequently encounter various wildlife. Such as Wajung the dolphin and Miwing the sea eagle.

From coastal rainforest to crashing waves and rocky coves, the views on this walk are truly special. At the end of the tour, we enjoy tasting some delicious bush tucker foods and have a nice cup of bush tea and a biscuit. We highly recommend that guests wear appropriate shoes and have a water bottle, hat and sunscreen.

Broken Head Departures

  • Departs 4pm returns 5.30 pm
  • This tour takes place at Broken Head (follow Broken Head Reserve Road to the end). The meeting place is at the start of the ‘Three Sisters Walking Track’ which is next to Broken Head Holiday Park. Please be mindful that you will need to pay for parking within Broken Head Nature Reserve and it can be very busy, so please allow some time to find a car park.

You’re cordially invited to embark on a unique Aboriginal tour experience at Cape Byron, Bangalow, or Broken Head. Led by Delta Kay, a proud Bundjalung woman from Byron Bay, these tours promise an enriching exploration of Aboriginal culture.

Throughout the journey, guests delve into the pre-colonial existence of the Aboriginal people. Discovering the ways in which the Bundjalung community nurtured and respected the land. Delta sheds light on the profound impact of settlement and displacement on her people. Recounting her family’s journey of negotiating Native Title rights.

Delta generously imparts knowledge of the Bundjalung language and shares insights into local bush tucker, natural medicine, traditional tools, weaponry, and artifacts. As the tour concludes, guests indulge in a delightful tasting session featuring a variety of bush tucker delicacies. Complemented by a comforting cup of bush tea and a biscuit, creating a memorable finale to the experience.

Our mission is to help you have an awesome time while you are on one of our guided Aboriginal tours. Your safety is our concern but it is also your responsibility. We ask that you pay attention to our instructions and to ask when something does not make sense as we are always happy to take the time to explain something further. To help guide you into making the right choices for your safety and the safety of others whilst you are on one of our tours, we ask that you read our comprehensive Terms & Conditions carefully and be aware that you are required to accept these T&C’s when you book one of our tours.

Cancellation Policy

All bookings cancelled or changed with less than 48 hours notice or failure to join the tour will incur a 100% cancellation fee.

In the case of severe weather (heavy rain and dangerous winds), we will have to cancel a tour and guests will receive a full refund, or they can join another tour. Please note that tours will still go ahead in the event of light rain and wind. We ask that you wear appropriate clothing, including covered shoes, hat, sunscreen, raincoat and umbrella.

To cover our own expenses, we require a minimum of 4 guests per tour. If we receive less than 4 bookings, the tour will be cancelled and guests will be provided with a full refund, or they can join another tour.

Accidents, Injuries and Prior Medical Conditions

During our tours, guests a taken on a guided walk that requires a moderate level of physical health and fitness. We aim to accommodate all our guests and walk at a reasonable pace. We ask that our guests always stay on designated footpaths and look carefully where they are walking as there can be some uneven or slippery surfaces. We also ask that guests keep a safe distance from wildlife. Our staff are trained in first and CPR, and carry a first aid kit during tours, so in the event of an accident or injury, we can provide basic care. However, we do not take responsibility for any injuries or accidents that occur to you. For more serious incidents, we may need to call an ambulance for you. In this case, we will not be liable for any medical expenses that may incur, such as ambulance or hospital fees. Furthermore, if you have a prior medical condition that may prohibit you from participating in our tours, then we ask that you reconsider booking with us.

Damages

All guests are responsible for any damages caused to facilities or any equipment provided in conjunction with an Explore Byron Bay tour as a result of your negligence.

Explore Byron Bay accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage to any personal belongings during a tour. It is your responsibility to look after your belongings and we recommend that you purchase travel insurance whilst you are travelling in Australia.

Unforeseen Circumstances

Tour itineraries are subject to change without notice due severe weather conditions or any other unforeseen circumstances, such as NSW National Park closures. In addition, we will not compensate for any of the following:

  • Guests missing connecting travel arrangements

  • Any changes to the itinerary or missed components of a tour

  • Time lost due to equipment failure or severe weather conditions

  • Any impact on the tour due to Natural disasters, Cyclones, Fires or extreme weather conditions

Unacceptable Behaviour

Furthermore, Explore Byron Bay takes no responsibility for people acting irresponsibly or not following instructions provided. If your behaviour is deemed dangerous or unacceptable you will be asked to leave the tour with no compensation.
