Experience the tranquilly and quiet of the Great Barrier Reef aboard Calypso Snorkel, a specialist snorkelling yacht that departs Port Douglas daily.
Snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef is one of the most incredible experiences imaginable. With much of the reef’s colour and marine life visible within a few metres of the water’s surface, snorkelling allows all swimmers, regardless of skill level, to get up close and personal with this unique ecosystem.
Departures
- Check in 8 am for 8.30 am departure
- Returns Port Douglas at approximately 4.40 pm
Float smoothly through vibrant coral gardens brimming with life, from clownfish to the graceful beauty of the green turtle. Hundreds of species will be encountered during your visit to Opal Reef with Calypso, including giant clams, stingrays, maori wrasse, cod, and colourful parrotfish.
This 21-metre yacht features comfy daybed seating as well as expansive decks and a professional, experienced crew, ensuring that each guest has a unique and personalised Great Barrier Reef experience.

Your travel itinerary
- 7:00 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. Check-in: check-in directly at the Calypso vessel at 8:20 a.m.
- 8:20 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Boarding Commences: a.m. at the Crystalbrook Marina, Port Douglas. As the Calypso crew welcomes you aboard, you will be fitted out with your own snorkelling equipment before relaxing with light refreshments.
- 8.45am to 10:10am Cruise Time: It is time to sit back and relax while we travel to our first site.
- 10:20 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. First Snorkeling Site: All guests will enjoy an informative talk on how to use the equipment and to snorkel safely. Crew are in the water to help as everyone explores our first snorkelling site. Morning tea is served.
- 11:50am to 1:30pm Second Snorkeling Site: We travel to our second breathtaking site, where guided snorkelling tours are available before a tropical lunch is served. After all that scrumptious food, a reef interpretive talk will be conducted by one of the crew members.
- 1:45pm to 2:45pm Third Snorkeling Site: A short cruise to our final snorkelling site before enjoying afternoon tea.
- 2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Cruise Home: Returning at approximately 4:15 p.m.
Important info before travel
Please bring along swimmers, towel, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, sea sickness tablets (if required), a change of clothes (there are fresh water showers on board) and credit card (VISA, MasterCard or EFTPOS, sorry no cash) for any on board purchases. We do not provide towels for guests, however please ask your accommodation provider who will supply beach towels for you
For Calypso, we are flexible if you want to move your day of travel, subject to availability, as long as you provide us with plenty of notice (24 hours). If you decide to cancel within 24 hours of your tour departing, a cancellation fee will be charged. This could be up to 100%.

Can I cancel my tour or change my tour date?
Yes, you can cancel or amend your tour to a different date (subject to availability) if you notify us 24 hours or more prior to travel.
If you need to cancel or change dates within 24 hours of travel a 100% cancellation fee applies
Please note a ‘no show’ (where passengers do not turn up to the specified pick-up point or departure point without notification) automatically incurs a 100% cancellation fee.
Do you ever cancel?
On very rare occasions, tours can be subject to the effect of weather or unforeseen circumstances. If a tour does not operate for any reason, passengers will be offered a full refund or an alternative day of travel.
