Rottnest island is only a short ferry trip from the city of Perth in Western Australia. It’s a protected nature reserve and home to the Quokka. People from all around love to visit and try to get a photo with this smiling wallaby-like creature.
We recommend visiting the island and organising snorkel and bike hire to make the most of your visit. There are a variety of places to stay if you want to make your visit into an overnight one. Premium, budget accommodation is available as well as campgrounds if you are happy to bring equipment with you.
The island is home to over 63 secluded beaches and 20 bays. That’s plenty of spots to enjoy a swim, snorkel and work on that sun tan. Some of the best spots include The basin, Geordie bay and little parakeet bay.
The basin is only 10 minutes from the main settlement area of the island and is a great spot for snorkelling so probably a good spot to start!
While exploring the island you’re sure to see the famous critters that make this island famous. The Quokka! These little cuties are really photogenic so try to get a memorable photo.
We know you’ll enjoy your trip to Rottnest island and hope you have some awesome experiences while here.
