Visit the stunning Blue Mountains, a World Heritage National Park located 90 minutes west of Sydney. This is one of the most popular day trips from Sydney and is a stunning rugged mountain range with breathtaking views, high cliffs, eucalyptus forest, waterfalls and of course the famous three sisters rock formations.
The blue mountains is only a 90 minute drive west of Sydney or a 2 hour train journey from Sydney central station. A great option is taking a one day tour with a guide and you can also hop on the Blue Mountains explorer bus if you’ve taken the train.
Take in such places as the famous 3 sisters rock formation located on the North escarpment in the Jamison valley, stare in wonder at the falls or take in a stroll on the boardwalks at Katoomba.
Ride the iconic scenic skyway – the World’s steepest railway or get that selfie at Govetts leap lookout overlooking the deep canyons of the Grose Valley and its giant 180 metre waterfalls.
If staying the night in the area there are a few different accommodation options in the town of Katoomba which is as close to the National Park as you can get. The Blue Mountains YHA is a great option for backpackers and those with a budget in mind and for those looking for a nice hotel or motel option there are plenty of those available as well.
Whether your just here for a day trip or for a weekend escape you won’t forget your time spent in this amazing area.
