Exmouth is a small resort town locater at the northern gateway to the Ningaloo Coast world heritage area. It’s the perfect base to set yourself up for exploring the local area including Ningaloo Marine Park and Cape Range National Park.
Most people coming to Exmouth are here to explore the wonders of the Ningaloo reef, the largest fringing reef in Australia. This is the west coast’s Great barrier reef with one main difference, you don’t need a boat to get to it.
The reef is home to one of the world’s top ten shore dives – the Exmouth Navy Pier. This is commonly referred to as the aquarium without the glass. Divers here will view more fish species in this area alone than in their entire diving life.
Perhaps the main attraction that gets visitors to this spot is the chance to dive or snorkel with Whale sharks. These gentle giants of the ocean are amazing to see in person. Take a day trip for the opportunity to create memories that will last a lifetime.
A short drive south west of Exmouth will have you arriving at Cape Range National Park. Featuring rugged landscapes, limestone ranges and spectacular canyons as well as 50 kilometres of unspoiled coastline. There are camping sites available in the national park and pre booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
Head south to visit the dolphins of Monkey Mia and Kalbarri national park. If you opt to head north instead Karratha, Port Hedland and Eighty Mile beach await you on your way to Broome and the Kimberley region.
We highly recommend heading east inland to spend time at the Gorges and swimming holes of Karijini National park before making your way in either direction up or down the coast.
