Accommodation
All accommodations are in hostels or cheap hotels. Although circumstances might seem simple, this is all part of the adventure. Firstly, our accommodations are shared dorm rooms, perhaps with mixed genders. Except at the farmstay, where we enjoy our outback experience, upgrades to single, twin, or double are available at an additional fee.
Our excursions involve some walking; therefore, a modest degree of fitness is required. It can be difficult to hike in Kalbarri National Park. Bring sturdy walking shoes, please.
Your travel itinerary
At the tourist bus stop on Wellington Street, Red Earth pickups begin at 7:30 a.m. Starting in the north, we pick up passengers from various points along the way. Lancelin is where we initially stop to go sandboarding.
After viewing the Pinnacles in Nambung National Park, we’ll go to our overnight lodging. You’ll have some free time to explore the neighbourhood. (Dorms)
Meals: Lunch and Dinner
Take in the distinctive pink colour of Hutt Lagoon, try to spot migrating whales from the cliff tops during migration season, and have some free time in Kalbarri before a mouthwatering Australian BBQ. The Kalbarri coast will leave you speechless with its magnificence. Sleep in Kalbarri (dorms).
Meals: Breakfast Lunch, and Dinner
Red Earth proceeds deep into Kalbarri National Park to the magnificent Z-Bend gorge for optional abseiling and a stroll down into this 400 million-year-old terrain. During the summer, we can take a swim in a private pool before continuing to Nature’s Window. We stop at the stunning new Skywalk, which features two platforms with fantastic views of the valley and the surrounding countryside. We travel through the Midwest Outback after lunch, where there are few people and enormous sheep ranches. Before hitting Shark Bay and the distinctive Shell Beach. We descend into the unusual Hamelin Pool stromatolites, some of the planet’s oldest organisms and thought to be among the first oxygen-makers. Monkey Mia Resort ( dorm)

Red Earth gets to Monkey Mia just in time to meet the renowned Bottlenose Dolphins. Get up close and personal and enjoy some free time. We proceed up north to Eagle Bluff. From our clifftop vantage point, we may observe a variety of species, including sharks, below us. As you move further north, it will become clear why this region is known as Big Sky Country. It is also home to the second-longest straight road in Australia. Take a trip to a private beach for sunset, roast marshmallows over a campfire, and sit and take in the atmosphere of the Outback. Test your astronomical prowess at our million-star accommodations and more tonight as we have exclusive use of an Outback Sheep Station shearers quarters.

Before reaching Coral Bay, we make a stop at the Tropic of Capricorn. But only a few metres separate the stunning Ningaloo Reef from the fine white sand beach. There are several optional activities to choose from today. You can swim on the beach and rent snorkel gear and fins to explore the reef on your own. Or board a glass-bottom boat for a tour of the reef, or sign up for an eco-day trip to swim with coral bay manta rays (includes lunch).
We arrive in Exmouth late this afternoon after travelling up the Northwest Cape. Inn at Potshot Overnight (Dorms). All resort amenities, including the two swimming pools, bars, and restaurants, are available to us.

You have the day to do as you choose. There are day trips with whale sharks available (in season; advance reservations are recommended; optional). as well as optional dive charters to the outer reef and our FREE explorer excursion to Cape Range and Turquoise Bay. Whether in the bay or on the drift, rent snorkelling gear (optional) and dive right into the breathtaking underwater Ningaloo Reef garden. We’re hoping to see turtles, octopuses, reef sharks, and a variety of colourful fish. And, of course, the stunning coral formations that make up the reef. Before returning to town, we take a trip up to the Vlamingh Head lighthouse for breathtaking views across the peninsula’s tip. The 6-day roundtrip journey finishes this afternoon. When it’s time to return to Perth, we go south down the highway. Pausing along the route to observe the amazing termite mounds that dot the area. Before reaching Geraldton and our lodging for the night, we tour the stunning Carnarvon Foreshore (dorms).
As we go further back down the highway, we get a fantastic opportunity to take pictures of the leaning trees of Greenough. At around 2:00 p.m. on Monday, we pull into the Tourist Coach Stand on Wellington Street in Perth.

Important info before travel
