Following breakfast, infuse meaning into your journey by participating in a volunteer conservation effort at the Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. Spanning 2,000 hectares, this wilderness sanctuary serves as a refuge for native wildlife, including koalas, kangaroos, possums, echidnas, reptiles, and diverse bird species. Despite being significantly affected by the 2020 bushfires, the sanctuary’s story is one of resilience, recovery, and regeneration. Depending on the season, your conservation activities may involve seed collecting, tree planting, or wildlife counting.
Next, set your course for the iconic Flinders Chase National Park, situated at the northwestern point of the island. This renowned park features striking rock formations, impressive beaches, and abundant wildlife.
At Admirals Arch, meander along a boardwalk, absorbing the tranquility and keeping an eye out for the resident New Zealand fur seals. Marvel at the Remarkable Rocks, sculpted by nature over 500 million years. Engage in a bush walk at Weirs Cove before enjoying a picnic lunch to recharge.
After lunch, prepare for an extraordinary wildlife encounter at Seal Bay, home to the third-largest colony of endangered Australian sea lions. Approximately 800 sea lions call this bay home. Join a 45-minute tour with the National Parks & Wildlife guides, experts in the fascinating world of these beautiful creatures. Follow a boardwalk through the dunes to the beach, observing sea lions snoozing or even lounging in the middle of the beach path while learning about conservation efforts to protect this endangered species.
As the day unfolds, return to camp for reflection and relaxation over dinner before rolling out your swag and marveling at the abundance of shooting stars in the night sky.

Important info before travel
Australia has a relaxed attitude toward standards of dress. However, depending on the time of year you are travelling, you may need to be prepared for the extremes. Temperatures in southern Australia in winter (June, July, and August) can get quite cold, with daytime temperatures ranging from 10 to 18 degrees Celsius and nighttime temperatures reaching zero. Please ensure you pack appropriately. You’ll be nice and snug when travelling in the vehicles and staying in your accommodation, but for the outdoor activities, you’ll need warm jackets and a raincoat, just in case.
In summer, daytime temperatures can be extreme from November to April, with temperatures generally in the 30s but sometimes reaching over 40 degrees Celsius. Be prepared to endure extra physical stress due to the heat at these times, especially while on walks. If you are traveling in the summer, we recommend that you bring loose, cool, cotton clothing to protect yourself from the harsh sun. A sun hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses are a must.
With luggage restrictions, you need to pack with sensibility and lightness. Please ensure you have comfortable walking shoes, a hat, jacket, raincoat, sunglasses, a water bottle or camelbak, swimmers, a beach towel, and, of course, a camera.
For cooler months, if you are camping, we strongly recommend beanies, thermals, thick, warm socks, and gloves. It can get very cold during the night.
